Nonhle is a pharmacist with comprehensive experience across both the public and private healthcare sectors in South Africa. She holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacy Practice from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), awarded in 2019. Her postgraduate research focused on tackling unnecessary antimicrobial prescribing for upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) in children in Pietermaritzburg, highlighting the critical challenges and consequences associated with antibiotic misuse in primary healthcare settings. She gained valuable experience within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry overseeing manufacturing operations, ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and upholding quality standards. She then moved to quality control and regulatory affairs compliance capacity, where she was involved in managing product registration processes, documentation management, and liaising with regulatory authorities to secure local and international product approvals in compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks. To further specialize in regulatory affairs, she completed professional training through TWINZ, covering key areas such as medicines registration, regulatory requirements, and variations to market authorization, with a focus on both the European Union (EU) and South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) frameworks. In the public sector, she actively contributed to the Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee (PTC) at East Boom Community Health Centre (CHC), where she played a key role in evaluating medicine use and promoting good prescribing practices. She is deeply committed to promoting rational medicine use, contributing to high-quality pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulation, and to ongoing improvement of healthcare delivery systems.
