| Margaret works for Health Action International (HAI), an NGO based in Amsterdam. Margaret currently co-leads (with Molly Lepeska and David Beran) the Addressing the Challenge and Constraints of Insulin Sources and Supply (ACCISS) Study. Since it started in 2015, the ACCISS Study has conducted extensive research on the insulin market and is currently using the evidence to improve the availability and affordability of quality-assured insulin, and blood glucose self-testing devices, for both health systems and individuals in low- and middle-income countries. As part of the ACCISS Study, Marg has undertaken several availability, price and affordability surveys on insulin and related devices. More recently, Marg and Molly developed a tool (called MAIn) to regularly monitor access to insulin, delivery devices and blood glucose testing at the household and facility levels. Prior to the ACCISS Study, Marg worked with the World Health Organization and developed a methodology to measure medicine prices, availability, affordability and price components. Since its publication, hundreds of surveys have been undertaken using the WHO/HAI methodology or an adaptation of it. She has also provided pricing policy advice to numerous governments. Marg also developed methodologies, and undertook studies, comparing prices of locally produced and imported medicines, and government procurement prices across nations. |
