Dr. Theodore Duxbury, an accomplished scholar, holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy Practice (2023) from Rhodes University, funded by The NRF SASAC. He attained his Master’s degree in Pharmacy Practice (2019) through the Rhodes University Research Development Grant Programme 2016 and his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (2016) funded by the Eastern Cape Department of Health. Alongside his academic qualifications, he earned a Higher Certificate in Healthcare Services Management (Cum Laude) from REGENT Business School (2019) and holds a National Department of Health Immunisation and Injection Technique Section 22A15 license. Throughout his academic journey, he has actively pursued opportunities to enhance his skills and knowledge base through various short-course certifications. These certifications, obtained from esteemed institutions such as Stellenbosch University and Rhodes University, have equipped him with valuable expertise in conducting original research in multicultural settings, implementing qualitative and mixed methods research designs, mastering project management principles tailored for doctoral pursuits and student mentoring. Dr. Duxbury’s dedication to excellence is showcased through his academic accomplishments and significant contributions to research, industry, and quality assurance.
Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Duxbury has garnered numerous prestigious awards and scholarships. Notably, he is a distinguished member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, recognized for his academic prowess and leadership potential. His commitment to community engagement and research excellence led to him receiving the 2020 Student Researcher of the Year Award at Rhodes University, among other notable academic accolades. Additionally, he was honoured with the Rhodes-Investec Top 100 Student Leadership Award, acknowledging his remarkable leadership potential and substantial contributions to enriching campus life at Rhodes University. This award epitomizes the ethos of “Where leaders learn,” acknowledging individuals who exhibit exceptional leadership qualities and positively influence their university community.
In April 2024, Dr. Duxbury joined the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) as a lecturer in the Discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Currently, he lectures in the Division of Pharmacy Practice.
